Dear Natural Awakenings Readers and Friends,

Going Green, Being Conscious, Living Balanced and Awakened are so many terms that we hear over and over again nowadays. What I hope to bring you in this issue is that these terms are not radical changes or some bandwagon that you have to jump on but simply a mere thought to question each action that you take in daily life. How it affects you, others, and the world. Almost like the green holy trinity.

Dear Natural Awakenings Readers & Friends,

This month I would like to focus on something called Innovation in Bloom.  We are at the lovely time of year when the birth of our warmer months is about to erupt.  New growth, new life and what I am seeing right now is new innovation.  What better a time to seed and fertilize that idea you have been sitting on or to cross-pollinate your creative forces with others on the same open-minded mission as you.  No great achievement comes easily and requires the time and nurturing that you would give any garden or life source.

Dear Natural Awakenings Readers and Friends,

Do you share the same passion as I do for Natural Awakenings Magazine?  This month I am intrigued with the concept of love and all the forms it takes in your daily life beyond the shallow concept of "does someone else love me"?  The energetic essence of Love can be experienced through many forms… from another person, from a pet, from an experience, or even from your career mission.  It always amazes me how people put so much focus on a partner instead of putting that focus on themselves.

Dear Natural Awakenings Readers and Friends,

What the Frack is going on??  This month, we are sharing our education on a hot topic in New York State and across America…Fracking.  Short for "fracturing"fracking fractures our bedrock along with the use of chemicals that can leak into our earths water supplies and causing much harm to our environment.  The reason it is a hot topic for New York right now is because between 34,000 and 95,000 wells are envisioned for New York State alone, with 77,000 likely over the next 50 years.  What can you do to take a stand and protect our earth and our children's future? Find out more on pages 18-19.

Dear Natural Awakenings Readers and Friends,

Psst, are you awake? This month, we explore the far-reaching, yet fundamentally personal, topic of “Awakening Humanity.” At its foundation, awakening humanity is about making the shift of our individual focus from “me” to “we.” In our feature article, “It’s All About We” (page 18) Linda Sechrist explores this topic as it relates to several recent literary works. You’ll learn how thought leaders such as Jack Canfield and Lynn McTaggart can help us see through the “what’s mine is mine, what’s yours is yours” mentality into a “me-we” way of thinking that can help inform wise decision-making about everything from environmental stewardship to economics to health and spiritual development.

Dear Natural Awakenings Readers and Friends,

"Does one have the power to change the course of their path or is it preset before us?"  This is the conversation I had recently with a good friend. I told her this…I started the NYC Edition of Natural Awakenings Magazine 3 years ago and stood in the middle of Times Square with a paper magazine blowing in my hand, looked up at the sky and said…how am I going to do this in the media mecca of the world?

Dear Natural Awakenings Readers and Friends,

Here we are in the high tides of summer, enjoying the warmth and the ebb and flow of mother natures hot days and stormy nights.  As you make time to enjoy the summer and the freedoms it has to offer, I would like for you to take the time to get out to a park, kick your shoes off and connect with the earth we walk on, inspired by the article Barefootin': It Grounds Us, on page 22.  With the hustle and bustle we face on city streets running through crowds of people, up and down subway stairs, how many times do we make the time to take our shoes off and reap the earth's energy for wellness in an outdoor place that will allow us to do so?
